"That Cookie Monster" (Chapter 19)

Fretzie: (binuksan ang gate) Magandang umaga po. Pasok kayo. Huh? (nagulat) Ate ka ni Bret di bah? Devon, tama?

Devon: Oo. Hello Fretzie. (nakita ang hawak ni Fretzie) Si Bun-bun?

Fretzie: Oh! Ma-ma-ya ko na lang ieexplain toh. Ate Devon, maaring mo bang ilihim muna ito kay Bret? Na-“cute”-tan kasi ako eh kaya kinuha ko. Sorry.

Devon: Ha? Ah sige. Di ko sasabihin sa kanya.

Patrick: Na saan kuya mo Fretz?

Fretzie: Nasa kwarto po niya, Kuya Pat. Puntahan niyo na lang siya.

Patrick: Ah sige. (pumasok sa bahay at dumiretso sa kwarto ni James)

            Naabutan nina Devon at Patrick si James nakatingin lang may bintana, parang malalim ang iniisip.

Patrick: Hey James! I’m here!

James: (deadma)

Patrick: Devon is here, too.

James: (lumingon)

Devon: (nakayuko lang at di nagsasalita)

Patrick: Hey, how many meals did you skip? You’re getting skinnier. Good thing I’ve brought a pizza. Devon brought some drinks, too. I’m hungry. Let’s eat now. (linatag ang pizza at ang inumin sa mesa) Uhmm… there are no cups? I’ll go down and get some. (bumaba)

          Ilang segundo rin ang lumipas na walang nagsasalita. Halatang hinihintay nila ang unang magsasalita sa kanila. Hindi na kinaya pa ni James ang nakakabinging katahimikan na bumabalot sa kanilang dalawa kaya nagsalita na siya.

James: Are you happy now?

Devon: (lumapit) James.

James: I’m thinking of what ways to send you off. Thinking of a way to send you off without hurting you. It shouldn’t be easy.

Devon: Sorry James. Pero kailangan ako ni Patrick. Nahihirapan din naman si-

James: Why? Didn’t you even think about me? Do you think I’d still be happy without you? Haven’t you even thought that I would also get hurt? Devon! I just can’t stand seeing you with somebody else! Just the thought of losing you scares me to death! Devon, (humarap at naluluha) Please come back. I love you so much. I need you. Devs, please. (bumuhos na ang mga luha) Don’t you love me too? (hinawakan ang mukha ni Devon)

Devon: (yumuko at di makasagot)

James: I guess that’s it. I know the answer now. (tumalikod at lumapit ulit sa bintana)

Devon: Ja-

James: Forget about it. (pinahid ang mga luha) Will you come to the gig? Remember, you must come.

Patrick: (bumalik na mula sa kusina) (napansin ang katahimikan) Hey! Bakit ang tahimik niyo naman! Nakakapanibago ah. Devs, hali ka tulungan mo akong ayosin ang mga ito.

James: (lumapit kay Patrick at may inabot)

Patrick: Huh? What’s this?

James: Open and take a look.

Patrick: (binuksan) (nagulat sa nakitang guitar)

James: (ngumiti) You like it, right?

Patrick: Did you buy this for me?

James: Isn’t it obvious?

Patrick: Seriously?

James: (chuckled) Do you think I would buy that just to put your name on it?

Patrick: (nakita ang marka na nakaukit sa guitar)

James: I know you really want it. I saw your eyes with heart shapes while looking at that guitar before.

Patrick: Ha ha! Funny James. Well really, thanks for this. You shouldn’t have done this.

James: Naaaahhhh. So much of the drama Pat. Let’s go. We still need to practice for the concert.

Patrick: Okay but how about the food?

James: Let’s just bring it there.

Patrick: Hey, I heard that you have taken recording albums from the audio and video society.

James: Huh? Ah yes.

Patrick: So when will you start recording?

James: Maybe after the gig ends (tumingin kay Devon) or maybe not.

Devon: (ngumiti lang)

James: (ngumiti at nagwave) (nag-isip bago nagsalita) Tonight, let everyone here bring home tears!

                Kahit na nagsasaya ang mga tao sa concert may isang tao pa ring malalim ang iniisip. Naguguluhan pa rin siya hanggang ngayon. Hindi rin naman niya kayang makita si James na nsasaktan pero alam rin naman niya ang kahihinatnan kapag iniwan rin niya si Patrick. Pinagmamasdan lang niya si James nang maigi habang ito ay kumakanta. Naalala niya tuloy lahat ng mga masasayang nangyari sa kanilang dalawa. Hindi niya mapigilang mapaluha. Hindi na talaga niya mapigilan ang sakit na nararamdaman.
